On Thursday 12 February, Charlie and Tess had a wonderful time delivering two ‘Play-in-a-Day’ workshops at Maltman’s Green School in Buckinghamshire. Having delivered our very first ‘Play-in-a-Day’ at this school one year ago, we were delighted to be invited back to deliver our bespoke workshops as part of its ‘Book Week’ celebrations.
We produced two 20-minute plays based on stories by Michael Morpurgo, with Year 5 pupils, who have been studying his work this year. The stories we adapted for the stage were: This Morning I Met a Whale and I Believe in Unicorns. Our aim was to give the pupils an understanding of some rehearsal techniques and processes for performance that are used in professional theatre.
We had a fantastic time working with the children at Maltman’s Green School. We were thrilled to learn that our work with Year 5 went down so well that it was reported on by a local newspaper:
‘The idea of the day was to give pupils the idea of the work that goes into putting on a production’ – The Buckinghamshire Advertiser
‘The girls had an extremely interesting day and were delighted to be able to round off their hard work with their own production to their parents’ – Maltman’s Green School
